There is a button to make the screw go down and remove the cork. The other is to remove the cork. If you have problems getting the cork out of your bottle of wine you will enjoy this opener. I have had others that charge, I am excited this one runs off batteries so when it's dead I can just replace the batteries, others tend to loose there power over time. The black top of the wine opener comes off and you insert 4 AA batteries in the top. The batteries are not included.
